Typical gang composition
A standard civils gang is 2–4 operatives plus a working supervisor with vehicle, small tools and basic plant. Larger fibre or HV gangs run 4–8 operatives with mini-excavator, vac-ex unit or pole-rigging gear.
Pay structure
Gangs typically work on a price-work or all-in day rate basis. Whole-gang day rates commonly sit £450–£900/day depending on plant, scope and region. Long-term framework rates often beat short-term rates.
