What Openreach civils work covers
Duct laying, chamber installation, frame & cover replacement, blockage clearance, Physical Infrastructure Access (PIA) installs, surveys, and reinstatement to NRSWA Spec. Work runs across delivery partners including Kelly Group, KN Group, MJ Quinn, Telent and many regional contractors.
Mandatory accreditations
SA001 (Underground Safety), SA002 (Working at Height — Poles) and SA006 (Underground Working) are baseline requirements for most Openreach civils work. NRSWA Operative is mandatory for any work in the highway. Supervisors need NRSWA Supervisor units 10, 11 & 12.
Typical contract structure
Most work is awarded on a price-work or measured-term basis through delivery partners. Day rates for accredited gangs typically sit £400–£700/day depending on plant, scope and region. Demand is consistent across the rollout footprint.
