What fibre engineers do
Fibre engineers install, splice, terminate and test optical fibre networks — from civils and ducting through to customer premises connections. Tickets typically required

Day rates for splicers and senior fibre engineers typically sit between £180–£280/day depending on region and accreditations. Trainee fibre operatives start lower; supervisors and senior installers with full Openreach SA tickets often earn more on framework contracts.
