NRSWA Supervisor
NRSWA supervisor units cover the supervision of streetworks in the UK highway. The statutory requirement is that a qualified supervisor is responsible for the works being carried out — they do not have to be on site at all times, but they must be appropriately qualified for the activities supervised.
The supervisor units
Supervisor units mirror the operative structure and are also held individually: LA (location and avoidance of underground apparatus), S1 (signing, lighting and guarding), S2 (excavation in the highway), S3-S8 covering backfill, sub-base, bituminous, concrete, modular and high-amenity reinstatement. Providers commonly bundle them, but registration is unit by unit.
Who needs it
Anyone acting as the responsible supervisor for streetworks. Delivery partners will normally not accept works signed off by a supervisor who is not SWQR-registered for those activities.
